Greensboro College Volleyball Sophomore Morgan Mayfield Wins USA South Libero of the Year

Greensboro, NC (11/14/2024) — Greensboro volleyball sophomore libero Morgan Mayfield has been named USA South Libero of the Year, the conference announced on Wednesday.

Mayfield becomes the first volleyball student-athlete to win Rookie of the Year and Libero of the Year in consecutive seasons. She is just the second Greensboro volleyball player to to win the award, following Joy Daniels who won the award in 2007.

Mayfield currently ranks 5th in NCAA Division III in digs and 6th in digs per set. She led the USA South in both categories as well. Mayfield also totaled 108 assists and 46 service aces.

Head coach Kevin Troup said of Mayfield's honor, "Morgan is a phenomenal player. She reads extremely well and is quick to react and kept us in many matches with her defensive prowess. She is a tough young lady and has high expectations of herself."

"Winning Libero of the Year is a true testament to her relentless work ethic, her drive to be better day in and day out, and her desire to make a play defensively to keep us in the rally. I could not be more proud of Morgan!"

In addition to winning Libero of the Year, Mayfield was named Second Team All-Conference along with teammates Kelci Brooks and Taylor Cotie.
