To be eligible for induction, undergraduates must have completed at least one-half of the work required for the degree with a cumulative average grade record of one quarter (0.25) of a step above a B, or better, and must be in the top 20 percent of their college class in cumulative average grades.

Delta Mu Delta was founded in 1913 and joined the Association of College Honor Societies in 1963. It has about 200 active chapters today. Since 1992, the society has been affiliated with the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs, the accrediting agency for Greensboro College's business administration program.

Greensboro College's chapter of Delta Mu Delta, designated as Lambda Xi, was chartered in 2009.
