Greensboro College Football Defeats Guilford 48-7

Greensboro, NC (09/06/2026) — Greensboro College football (1-0) defeated Guilford (0-1) 48-7 on Saturday night in a historic defeat of the Quakers. The Pride scored 35 unanswered points across five scoring drives after the game stood at 13-7. The 48 points scored is the most the Pride have ever scored against Guilford and the largest margin of victory they have had over the Quakers.

After the Pride moved into Guilford territory on its opening possession before turning the ball over on downs, Guilford reached the Pride 23 on Tristan Gabrels' 37-yard completion to Josh Long, but Ziere Ray stopped Gabrels for a loss and Kalil Marcus intercepted him at the Pride 10 at 12:27. The Pride converted the takeaway into a 14-play, 80-yard drive, with Cameron Turner's 23-yard run and two Guilford penalties helping extend the possession before Camron Torrence-Kelly scored on a 4-yard run at 4:51 for a 6-0 lead. After the Pride forced a punt, Kielen Thomas returned it 9 yards to the Pride 40, and Turner found KJ Brown for a 54-yard touchdown at 1:53 before Jacob Cook's extra point made it 13-0. Guilford answered with a four-play, 75-yard drive capped by Maurice Andrews' 58-yard touchdown run at :14, and the Pride finished the first quarter ahead 13-7 after Sincere McIntyre's 32-yard kickoff return and one final offensive snap.

Guy Galardi III pinned Guilford at its 2 with a 49-yard punt, and after breakups by Ja'Quavious Crumpler and TJ Croom helped force a punt, Kielen Thomas returned it 18 yards to the Guilford 27. Turner hit McIntyre for a 27-yard touchdown at 13:03, and Jacob Cook's extra point made it 20-7. Guilford put together a 15-play, 55-yard drive and converted once on fourth down, but the Pride stopped the next fourth-down try when Marcus and Jay Law made the tackle after a 5-yard completion on fourth-and-9 at the Pride 25. After Ben Finkelstein intercepted Turner at the Guilford 31, the Pride's defense forced a punt, and the Pride drove from their own 4 to the 47 in the final 1:52 to take a 20-7 lead into halftime.

The Pride opened the third quarter by forcing a three-and-out, with Jadon Barnes sacking Tristan Gabrels for a 9-yard loss before Guilford punted from its 16. The Pride needed two plays after the punt, as Kyjuan Westmoreland ran 36 yards to the Guilford 19 and Turner found McIntyre for a 19-yard touchdown at 12:48, with Jacob Cook's extra point making it 27-7. After another Guilford punt, the Pride put together a seven-play drive that included an 18-yard completion from Turner to Jace Jackson and ended with Torrence-Kelly's 7-yard touchdown run at 7:51, then added another short-field score when Turner finished a 34-yard drive with a 15-yard touchdown run for a 41-7 lead. Guilford moved inside the Pride 10 late in the quarter, but Stone Fewell stopped Malik Woodard at the 5 and Aaron Ingram sacked Gabrels at :00, leaving the Pride ahead 41-7 after the third quarter.

In the fourth quarter, Makel McConico pressured Tristan Gabrels into consecutive incompletions near the goal line, and the Pride took over at their own 11 after Guilford's fourth-down pass fell incomplete at 14:50 with the score 41-7. The Pride moved into Guilford territory behind a 13-yard completion from Turner to KJ Brown, a 36-yard Turner pass and a 20-yard throw to Cameron Lee, but a fourth-down sack and fumble led to a Guilford recovery before Lee forced and recovered a fumble on the return at the Pride 41. The Pride used the short reset to finish a 59-yard scoring drive, with Mitrend Curry running for 13 yards, Chase Altis hitting Brown for 25 and Austin Seabrook scoring on a 10-yard run before Jacob Cook's kick made it 48-7 at 7:48. Guilford later extended its final possession with a penalty, but Ziere Ray sacked Gabrels on third down and hurried an incomplete fourth-down pass at the Pride 45 with 1:07 left, allowing the Pride to kneel out the 48-7 final.

Turner completed 13 of 21 passes for 244 yards and three touchdowns and rushed 14 times for 67 yards and another score. KJ Brown caught four passes for 99 yards and a touchdown. McIntyre finished with two receptions for 46 yards and two touchdowns. Torrence-Kelly rushed 10 times for 60 yards and two touchdowns while adding two catches for 15 yards.
