Greensboro College Football's Ja'Shawn Harris Named to National Team of the Week
Greensboro, NC (11/05/2024) — GREENSBORO, NC- Greensboro Pride WR/KR Ja'Shawn Harris was named to the D3football.com Team of the Week for his outstanding performance in Saturday's 23-21 loss to NC Weselyan.
Harris fielded three kickoffs for 156 yards, including a thrilling 92-yard return to the end zone, giving Greensboro a 21-20 lead in the closing seconds of the third quarter. It marked the second career kick return touchdown for the sophomore from High Point, tying him with Jason Layman (1997-01) for the most all time in Greensboro Pride history.
Throughout his two season at Greensboro, Harris has regularly shown off his speed, elusiveness, and ability to break free for a big play. In 2023, he averaged 18.7 yards per kick return, with a 98-yard touchdown. He has continued to find success in the return game in 2024, averaging 24.9 yards per return (through eight games) in addition to Saturday's touchdown. And, for good measure, he has caught four touchdown passes as a wide receiver.
Harris becomes the second player for Greensboro to be named to a Team of the Week in 2024, joining defensive lineman Frank Walker, who was nominated for his dominant performance in Week 4's win against Southern Virginia.
The Pride conclude their home 2024 slate on Saturday with a Senior Day tilt against Maryville College. Kickoff is set for noon at Pride Field.
