Greensboro College President to Lead Institution Into 2029
Greensboro, NC (05/23/2025) — The Greensboro College Board of Trustees has extended President Lawrence Czarda's contract with the College through June 30, 2029. Dr. Czarda began his tenure with the College in 2010, making him one of the state's longest-serving college presidents.
"President Czarda remains committed to leading Greensboro College through the rapidly changing and challenging landscape of higher education," says BOT Chair Martha Bradberry, '74. "The Board is confident in Dr. Czarda's plans for GC's continued progress and long-term success."
President Czarda holds a B.A. from Bridgewater College, a M.P.A. from American University, and a Ph.D. from George Mason University. Prior to his appointment at Greensboro College, Dr. Czarda served as Vice President for Administration as well as Chief of Staff to two presidents at George Mason University, where he had worked since 1983.
He has over 40 years of experience in both K-12 and higher education, serving both public and private institutions. Czarda has served as a member and Chair of the Board in K-12 education, health care and numerous not-for-profit organizations.
Czarda currently serves as Board Chair for the Community Foundation of Greater Greensboro and Chair of the Finance Committee for West Market Street United Methodist Church. He serves as an officer of the North Carolina Independent Colleges and Universities (NCICU) Board of Directors and regularly chairs committees for the Southern Association for Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC), the regional higher education accrediting body.
Previously, he served on boards for the Greensboro Chamber of Commerce, shift_ed, NC Folk Festival, The Arts Council of Greater Greensboro, Opportunity Greensboro and the Union Square Campus. Nationally, he has served on boards for the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA DIII) and the United Methodist Church President's Association boards and advisory groups, and USA South Athletic Conference President's Council.
