Greensboro College Volleyball Improves to 7-2 on the Season After 3-1 Win Over Meredith
Greensboro, NC (09/21/2025) — Raleigh, NC - It was a successful road trip for the Greensboro College Volleyball team (7-2, 3-0) as they defeated conference rival Meredith (7-5, 1-1) 3-1 on Saturday afternoon.
The Pride came out strong in the first set, earning a 25-15 win. They totaled 17 kills in the set and took a 1-0 lead heading to set number two.
Meredith came back to even the match with a 26-24 win in set two. The Avenging Angels had 19 kills in the set and looked to take momentum back as the teams went to the third set.
Greensboro would bounce back, however, and win a close third set, 25-23. The Pride would close out the match in the fourth set by earning a 25-20 victory. Greensboro had 17 kills again in the final set with just 3 errors.
Payton Shiflet had a huge game for the Pride, totaling 28 kills. She also had 14 digs. She now leads the USA South with 4.45 kills/set. Morgan Mayfield had 27 digs on the afternoon, putting her at 6.27 digs/set, which also leads the conference.
Taylor Cotie was a key contributor to the win, earning 12 kills and 3 blocks. Jaylyn Templeton, who surpassed the 3,000 career assist mark last week, had a season high 44 assists on Saturday. She also added 15 digs. Grace Klingemsmith had 3 service aces on the match.
Greensboro will travel to Brevard on Wednesday in their next match, with the game time set for 6:00 pm.
