Greensboro College Volleyball Remains Undefeated in Conference Play with Win Over SVU

Greensboro, NC (10/09/2025) — Buena Vista, VA - Greensboro College Women's Volleyball (13-2, 8-0) defeated Southern Virginia (12-5, 6-2) 3-1 on Wednesday to remain undefeated in USA South Conference play.

The Knights would come out and take the first set after trailing 12-8 at one point in the set. SVU took a 24-22 lead before Greensboro scored twice to tie things at 24-24. The teams would then be tied 25-25 as the set went back-and-forth. SVU would earn the final two points and take a 1-0 match lead.

That would be all for the Knights, however, as Greensboro took over the match and won the final three sets. Greensboro controlled the second set, winning 25-17, and then dominated the third set with a 25-13 victory.

SVU would make a late charge in the final set, but the Pride kept the Knights at bay and took the final set 25-21. With the win, Greensboro remains in first place in the USA South and currently own the tiebreaker with SVU, who sits tied for second place.

Payton Shiflet had a double-double with 22 kills and 26 digs. Kelci Brooks had a solid 17 kill performance and a .359 hitting percentage. Taylor Cotie had a big night as well, earning 9 kills and 5 blocks. Jaylyn Templeton had a season-high 47 assists. Morgan Mayfield led Greensboro in digs with 29.

The Pride will come back home on Saturday to host a tri-match against NC Wesleyan and Trinity College of Jacksonville.
