Greensboro College Volleyball Secures Second Straight Regular Season Conference Title
Greensboro, NC (11/05/2026) — Greensboro College volleyball (24-4, 14-3 USA South) defeated Brevard (12-16, 9-8 USA South) 3-0 on Wednesday at Hanes Gymnasium to clinch at least a share of their second straight regular season conference crown. Greensboro hit .305 for the match and ended the third set on an 8-0 run from a 17-11 lead.
Greensboro started the opening set with a Larkin Baxley kill from Emory Johnson and a Morgan Mayfield ace, and after Brevard tied it at 2-2, kills by Dilynn Norris and Skylar Rokov helped push the lead to 8-4. Brevard cut the margin to 8-7, but Greensboro stayed in front behind Baxley kills, an Abigail Leo kill and a Baxley ace to move ahead 16-10, then used a four-point service stretch from 17-11 to 21-11 that included blocks involving Leo and Rokov and a Norris kill. Brevard pulled within 24-16 late, but a service error closed Greensboro's 25-16 set win.
Brevard moved in front 8-5 in the second set after consecutive service aces by Ariel Rieck and a block by Emma Fontana, but Greensboro worked back to 12-12 on a block by Leo. Greensboro trailed 15-14 before a Rokov kill, a Brevard attack error and a Lily Burson ace put it ahead 16-15, and after Brevard tied the set, Greensboro scored the next three points on a service error, a block by Enjoli Allen and Baxley, and Baxley's kill for a 19-16 lead. The Pride stretched the margin to 22-17 behind an Allen kill, a Grace Young ace and a Payton Shiflet kill, then held off a three-point Brevard push. Shiflet delivered back-to-back kills to reach set point, and Morgan Mayfield's ace closed Greensboro's 25-20 set win.
Mayfield served consecutive aces after Payton Shiflet's opening kill, and Greensboro moved in front 5-3 on three early Shiflet kills. Greensboro then scored six straight points to build an 11-3 lead, getting kills from Rokov, Mayfield and Norris before another Rokov kill capped the stretch. Brevard answered with five straight points to cut the margin to 11-8, but Greensboro pushed back to 17-10 behind kills from Baxley, Rokov, Baxley again and Allen. After Brevard made it 17-11, Shiflet put Greensboro back on serve, and Mayfield served out the final seven points with three aces as Greensboro closed the set 25-11.
