Greensboro College Volleyball Starts Season 2-0; Bozarth Earns First Win as Head Coach

Greensboro, NC (09/01/2025) — The 2025 season began on Saturday for the Greensboro College Volleyball team, and they came out firing on all cylinders as they defeated both St. Mary's College of Maryland and Warren Wilson 3-0. New head coach Dan Bozarth earned his first two collegiate head coaching wins on the day.

Greensboro vs St. Mary's (MD)

The Pride took on a tough Seahawks squad in the first game of the day, but wouldn't have much trouble taking care of business. Greensboro took the first set 25-16. As a team, they had 12 kills in the set while St. Mary's (MD) had 9 total errors.

It was a similar second set for the Seahawks, as they made 8 more errors. Despite a tough battle from St. Mary's (MD) Greensboro would hang on for a 25-23 second set victory.

Greensboro cruised to a third set win, 25-15. For the match, Payton Shiflet led the Pride in kills with 11 while totaling 10 digs. Morgan Mayfield led the team in digs with 19 while Grace Young had 11. Skylar Rokov had 2 blocks while Taylor Cotie had 6 kills.

Greensboro vs Warren Wilson

Greensboro controlled the match throughout, winning 3-0. The first set went the Pride's way 25-16, followed by a 25-11 second set win. The third set saw a 25-20 score to secure the match victory.

Greensboro had 15 aces in this one, led by Lily Burson who had 4. Grace Klingensmith had 3 while Shiflet, Mayfield, and Larkin Baxley had 2 each. Shiflet led the team again in kills with 8 while Cotie and Kantley McKown had 4 of their own. Mayfield picked up 15 digs in another stellar defensve performance.

Greensboro plays again on September 5th when they travel to play Guilford College at 7:00 pm.
