Greensboro College Volleyball Tops Guilford College Friday Afternoon

Danville, VA (09/04/2026) — Greensboro College volleyball (1-1) swept Guilford College (0-2) on Friday afternoon, taking the sets 25-19, 25-10, 25-20. Greensboro finished with 37 kills, a .289 hitting percentage and 13 service aces while holding Guilford to 29 kills and a .175 percentage. Greensboro has now won three straight matches against Guilford dating back to 2024.

Skylar Rokov had two early kills and Madison Bozarth served consecutive aces as Greensboro opened a 5-1 lead, though Guilford cut the set to 5-4 with a kill by Olivia Roberts and two Greensboro attack errors. Greensboro rebuilt the cushion with an Emory Johnson kill, a Payton Wright kill and a Breckyn Bahr ace for an 8-4 advantage, then kept moving ahead through kills from Larkin Baxley, Abigail Leo and Payton Shiflet to reach 18-12. Guilford scored three straight to make it 18-15, but Morgan Mayfield stopped the run with a kill, and after the teams traded points, Johnson added a kill and an ace to put Greensboro up 21-16. Guilford made one more push with kills by Maiya Yeaton and Jillian Mapes to close within 21-19, but Greensboro finished the set on kills by Wright, Shiflet twice and Rokov for a 25-19 set win.

Greensboro started the second set with Grace Young's service ace and two Guilford attack errors for a 3-0 lead, then used kills by Shiflet, Wright and Baxley to stay ahead 11-5. Greensboro followed with seven straight points from 11-5 to 18-5, starting with Baxley's kill and continuing on Johnson's serve with kills by Wright and Rokov before a block by Wright and Leo capped the run. Guilford answered with four straight points, including kills by Olivia Roberts and Olivia Thorne, to make it 18-9, but Greensboro won seven of the last eight rallies behind kills from Wright, Shiflet, Leo, Kayla Yonker and Payton Bell to close out the set 25-10.

Greensboro opened the third set with a 4-0 start, getting a Shiflet kill from Leo and two Mayfield service aces. Guilford cut the gap to 4-3 and later to 8-6, but Greensboro pushed back behind a Bozarth ace and consecutive Lily Burson aces to move ahead 11-6. After Young's ace made it 16-11, Guilford scored four straight points to get within 16-15 before Leo's kill from Johnson and another Mayfield ace helped Greensboro stay in front. Guilford narrowed the score again at 21-19, but Shiflet's kill, two Guilford attack errors and a final service error closed Greensboro's 25-20 set win.

Shiflet led Greensboro with 12 kills and hit .296 on 27 attacks. Wright added eight kills on .500 hitting and one block assist. Bozarth recorded four service aces and eight assists. Mayfield collected 14 digs, served three aces and converted her lone attack.
