Lush Scores Game-Tying, Winning Goals in Greensboro College Women's Soccer's Win over Mary Baldwin

Greensboro, NC (10/08/2025) — Greensboro, NC - Abby Lush came through in the clutch on Tuesday night as she scored the game-tying and winning goals to help women's soccer take down Mary Baldwin 2-1.

Both teams had their share of shots taken in the first half. The Fighting Squirrels took 8 shots in the half while Greensboro took 7. In the 38th minute, Mary Baldwin took a 1-0 lead after Mackenzie Shores scored on a contested shot in front of the goal, and the Fighting Squirrels took that 1-0 lead into halftime.

However, Greensboro made adjustments in the second half, as their offense dominated possession and out-shot Mary Baldwin 9-6. In the 70th minute, Lush would score the tying goal after she took a shot that was saved, deflected off teammate Alex Dawson, and Lush punched it in the net to tie the match 1-1.

In the 77th minute, Lush scored unassisted, and that would turn out to be the game-winning goal to give Greensboro their second USA South Conference win of the season.

Lush's 2 goal performance comes just one game after she scored the winning goal against Warren Wilson on Saturday. She has scored all 3 of her goals this season in the last two games, and she now leads the team in goals scored.

Freshman keeper Griffin Horn got the win in goal, coming up with 6 saves. The win is the first for Horn in her collegiate career.

Greensboro will go on the road to William Peace on Saturday looking for another conference victory.
