Testerman Named National Player of the Year; Sykes and Testerman Named First Team All-Americans

Greensboro, NC (05/29/2026) — The accolades continue for Greensboro College Baseball's Trevor Testerman and Evan Sykes. The slugging duo have both been unanimously named D3baseball.com and ABCA/Rawlings First Team All-Americans. In addition, Testerman's humongous 2026 campaign has earned him D3baseball.com National Player of the Year. Testerman, a native of Myrtle Beach, SC, becomes the first player in program history to be named National Player of the Year.

The duo are the first two players in program history to be named First Team All-Americans. This is also Sykes's second All-American honor, as he was a Fourth Team All-American a year ago.

Testerman's historic 2026 season included a .475 average, 16 home runs, 62 RBI and 27 stolen bases. He set single-season program records in average, homers, slugging and on base percentages, and total bases. He was named USA South Player of the Year, First Team All-Conference, D3baseball.com Region 6 Player of the Year, First Team All-Region, ABCA/Rawlings First Team All-Region, and a semi-finalist for Small College Player of the Year.

"Earning All-American honors is truly a blessing and it means a lot to see that hard work pay off", said Testerman. "I'm grateful for my coaches, teammates, and family who pushed me every step of the way and I'm excited to keep building from here."

Sykes, a Graham, NC native, concluded his illustrious career as one of if not the best players to ever wear the Green and White. His senior campaign saw him become the career leader at Greensboro College in games (161), runs (191), hits (208), doubles (61), home runs (33), and RBI (159). For the year, he set career-highs in average (.412), homers (12), runs (64), hits (68), and tied the single-season record for doubles with 23. In addition to being named First Team All-Conference in the USA South, Sykes was also named D3baseball.com First Team All-Region and ABCA/Rawlings First Team All-Region.

Head coach Chris Fenisey says about the historic achievements of Testerman and Sykes, "The seasons that Evan and Trevor put together were beyond special. For them to both be honored as unanimous First Team All-Americans is very well deserved. Trevor's year will go down as the best in program history and Evan has re-written the history books throughout his entire career and become undoubtedly the best player to ever wear a Greensboro College uniform."
