Former Greensboro College Women's Basketball Coach Randy Tuggle Elected to USA South Conference Hall of Fame
Greensboro, NC (04/04/2024) — Greensboro, NC - The USA South Athletic Conference announced on Thursday that former Greensboro College Women's Basketball Head Coach and 2022 Greensboro College Athletics Hall of Fame inductee Randy Tuggle has been inducted to the USA South Athletic Conference Hall of Fame.
Tuggle was the head Women's Basketball coach at Greensboro for 11 seasons from 2009-2020 while also adding three years as women's golf head coach. On the basketball court, Tuggle is the all-time winningest coach in program history, amassing 196 wins which included a 134-53 (.716) Conference record. He led his team to four League regular season titles and the 2015 USA South Tournament championship. Tuggle was a two-time NCAA Tournament participant, leading the Pride to the Sweet-16 in 2011. That season, Tuggle earned USA South Coach of the Year as well as South Region Coach of the Year.
During his time on the Greensboro campus, Tuggle coached 17 all-conference selections, two All-Americans, two USA South players of the year, and two USA South rookies of the year. In 2022 Tuggle was inducted into the Greensboro Athletics Hall of Fame. In September of 2020, Tuggle passed away after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. The USA South launched a "Tuggle Strong" initiative during the 2019-20 season which raised thousands of dollars in Tuggle's honor for cancer research thanks to the support of all League members and their admiration for Coach Tuggle.
