Greensboro College Art to host Exhibit by Graduating Senior

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE November 9, 2021 Greensboro College Office of Communications

by Matthew Johnson

Greensboro, NC (11/09/2021) — The Greensboro College Department of Art presents an exhibition featuring graduating senior, Destinee' Allen, in the Anne Rudd Galyon Art Gallery, opening November 16, 2021, with a reception from 4-6 p.m. The show continues its run Monday through Friday, 9-5 p.m., through December 3. Masks will be required within the indoor space.

Destinee' Allen grew up in Marshville, NC, and her hometown is presented in several of her digital photographs. Her exhibition is titled, "The View Thrugh The Middle," consisting of 15-20 digital photographs. Meeting at the centre of intersectionality across socio-political and economic forces, these photographs actively express the connection between values and notions within the Black community. The interrelationship between Allen's life experiences and her photographs are actively expressed in her exhibition.

Greensboro College's Department of Art offers the B.A. or B.S. in Art and the B.A. in Art Education, as well as the B.F.A. in painting or sculpture.

The program, with individual attention to students, combines classic art principles with the liberal-arts foundations of diverse branches of inquiry, including both science and the humanities, so that students can incorporate as much of the world as possible into their own art-making.
